We are Chefs Mikael and Bill. We honor the Earth via sustainable cooking and serving practices with a goal of zero waste. Our combined 40 years of experience make us ready to create your personalized event with professionalism and ingenuity. And, just plain fun. We hope to meet you and become Planet 1st, together.
Born in Kirksville, Missouri, Bill has had a small town/agriculture mentality from the beginning. He has lived in over 15 cities, gathering ideas to incorporate into his life menu. From Tulsa to Chicago, Tokyo and San Diego, his passion has always been food - good, sustainable food. He solidified his passion with a degree from the Culinary Institute of America in 1997. His Tulsa Thyme Bistro was a staple for seven years and a pioneer for farm to table eateries in Tulsa with seasonal menus, cooking classes and catering.
He is proud to be a part of the local food movement, found in volunteer outreach to provide healthy food for residents in food deserts, consultant for restaurants, child nutrition programs & now catering events for you.
Planet 1st Catering is a perfect marriage of all his endeavors and the future is bright for bringing knowledge and fun of food for kids of all ages. Let's discover lasting culinary choices, together.
Chef Mikael Harp, the daughter of Dr. John and Patty Jones, arrived with her family to Oklahoma in 1986. After a brief stay in Stillwater, her family landed in Tulsa where she graduated from Jenks high school and then ventured East to earn her Culinary Arts degree from the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, New York. Upon graduation, Chef Mikael returned home to Tulsa and began her career focusing on small business restaurants, wineries and catering companies. In 2009, she expanded her horizons with Sodexo and enjoyed 10 years of service with the Tulsa Public Schools child nutrition department as the Executive Chef and Operations Director. Her passion for children, community and education continues with her new venture, Planet 1st Catering, with comrade Chef Bill Harris. She has two wonderful sons and a baby grandson who support her with community outreach projects and are Tulsa Proud!
